Kitchen culture

Master Chef is heading for it's glittering final on the weekend ? Have you been following it ? I watch it from time to time. My kids love it. They cannot get enough of it and they're not alone. This has been a television phenomenon in Australia. If I had suggested a couple of years ago that a cooking show would be run 6 nights a week in prime time and that it would dominate the ratings, people would have laughed.

When you compare us to the U.S. or the U.K. we do have a strong kitchen culture here in Australia. Master Chef will ensure that that culture get's stronger and that's gotta be a good thing.

If you eat well, you'll probably be healthy and happy. I know it's a simple concept but it's true. Anything that get's people excited about preparing fresh food gets my vote.

It goes hand in hand with Catherine Chapmans book that get's launched this weekend here in Canberra. It's called Posh Pear and it's all about kids eating the right stuff. The fast food companies spend so much money marketing food that isn't nesecarily good for us. Things like Master Chef and Catherine Chapman's book manage to balance it all out.

The Posh Bear book launch is at the Hellenic Club between 3 and 5pm on Sunday. Diabetes ACT are all over it.

As far as Master Chef goes.....who do you fancy now. I've got no idea other than I think it would be a massive injustice if Callum wins it. As much as I like the boy....as much as I feel his pain, because for one so young he seems to have the weight of the world on his shoulders, he's just not the best one there. I don't think he's even top 5 material, let alone the winner of the grand finale.

Who do you fancy ?
